MOTIONS AND STUDENT COUNCIL:

Motions submitted between 8 November - 18 November 2022 will automatically go to Student Council for approval.

A motion can be submitted via our online form or by downloading the word document and handing this into any FVSA office or emailing it to: student.association@forthvalley.ac.uk

If you need help putting your thoughts to paper, you can visit our offices or email us to arrange a meeting to help!

All motions that are submitted will be reviewed by the FVSA Executive Committee to ensure that these are not discriminatory and do not incite violence or hatred.

All motions will be discussed at the earliest available Executive Committee for approval (normally the end of each month), but may be raised to the next available Student Council meeting for approval if it is not within the power of the Executive to approve/reject the motion. For example - a motion to ask FVSA to put out a statement in support of a lecturers strike could be approved at Executive level, however a motion proposing changes to the Constitution must be approved by Student Council.

When submitting your motion, be sure to include your student ID number in the body of the email.

What happens once it is submitted?

Since the motion will be passed to the Executive Committee, you will be invited to attend the committee meeting to speak in favour of the motion for up to two minutes to tell those attending why they should support your motion.

If you do not wish to speak, you can waive your right to speak and let the motion speak for itself.

The Executive Committee will discuss the proposal and vote. The Executive Committee can find that the matter should go to Student Council and you will be informed what to expect next.
